That piece from the Heritage Foundation is just a hit piece by Kris Kobach. Sorry Kris, you lost, get over it.

Lawrence Freenet is not a scam. Feel free to come to any of our meetings or volunteer sessions. They are listed on our website - http://lawrencefreenet.org
We have no desire to compete with Sunflower. Our goal is to provide free internet access and computers to families that need free internet access and computers. If people who can afford it would like to pay for our service in order to subsidize service for someone else who may not be able to, then you can sign up for a site survey at our website - http://lawrencefreenet.org
We are not asking for "gimmie's from the City." We asked for access to city right of way in return for providing free service to qualifying families. The city commission voted unanimously to give us that access. We file a report with the city every quarter that lists the number of people recieving free service and the number of paying subscribers.
I am the President of Lawrence Freenet and I would be happy to help you investigate as much as you would like. You can contact me personally - sasnak at gmail.com.
