...maybe not in the same block, but the same car lot?

What an incredibly misleading headline: "Three car thefts reported in same block". What is the purpose? No cars were actually stolen, right? It isn't really an article, so drawing readers wouldn't seem to be the motivation. So then why, why so disingenuous?

Also not reported: Two prowlers spooted in several back yards on the 1800 block of both Maple Ln and Miller Dr. Officers gave chase, but were unable to locate or apprehend. This was around 9:30 Thursday night. If you live in that neighborhood, be sure and lock your doors and windows. We'ce had some shady characters move onto Miller Dr, and since then there has been this sort of activity.

Car theft doesn't necessarily mean cars themselves were stolen. It also means stuff inside a car was stolen.

Car theft means a car was stolen. Auto burglary means a car was unlawfully entered with the intent to commit a theft.
