Injury accidents¢ An 85-year-old Lawrence woman and a 16-year-old Lawrence girl were involved in an injury accident around 4:40 p.m. Friday. The accident took place at Folks Road and Sixth Street when the 16-year-old, Alexandra Smith, attempted to make a left turn from westbound Sixth Street onto southbound Folks Road. As she was entering the intersection, her vehicle was hit head-on by a vehicle driven by Dorothy Kerns, 85.Both drivers were treated at the scene for cuts and bruises. Kerns was cited for entering the intersection while the light was red.Emergency callsLawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical reported the following responses:¢ Carbon monoxide incident, 11:07 p.m. Saturday, 416 W. Sixth St.¢ Carbon monoxide incident, 11:24 p.m. Saturday, 2708 Coralberry Court.¢ Motor vehicle accident with no injuries, 6:04 a.m. Sunday, 508 Frontier Road.¢ Motor vehicle/pedestrian accident, 12:39 p.m. Sunday, N. Third and Maple streets .¢ Gas leak, 8:25 p.m. Sunday, 1908 E. 19th St.¢ Gasoline or other flammable spill, 12:10 a.m. Monday, 900 Il. St.

Obviously in this case it was the 85 year old. She ran a red light!

Old person behind the wheel of a car. Not good! Moms against driving drunk? I think old people kill more innocent people in car accidents than drunk drivers. Moms against driving old!

kansas needs to institute mandatory driving tests for drivers to renew their licenses after age 65. should include driving and reading full test.

wow, last few days been many accidents and bad for bicyclists! okay, ban bikes, ban walking. there ya' go.

I agree with the driving tests, b_g. Also, ban soccer moms who use their cell phones while driving minivans.
