Lawrence police investigating gun report

Law enforcement report¢ Lawrence Police responded to a call at 9:52 p.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of West 26th Street. One of several men inside an apartment told police he was watching movies when he heard a knock at the door and saw two men standing in the hallway. One of the men began asking about a missing pit bull. After letting the man inside to look for the dog, the resident said, the man pulled a silver semi-automatic handgun from his front waistband, and left the apartment, holding the weapon at his side. Another occupant of the residence told police he heard a sound similar to a weapon chambering a round and saw the suspect hold a silver handgun down by his waist.Others at apartment reported they did not see a gun.Burglaries and thefts reported¢ A Nikon D80 digital camera, valued at $1,299, was reported stolen from a cabinet in Moore Hall at Kansas University. The incident occurred between 2 a.m. July 20 and 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
