Child's walker stolen
Lawrence police are investigating the theft of a 7-year-old child's walker from his frontyard at 1814 Haskell Ave.The incident occurred about 7 a.m. Wednesday. A paraprofessional helping the boy get on the school bus set the boy's walker in the front of the house. Within minutes, the walker was gone, said the boy's mother, Vania Bruner. The walker, valued at $1,200, is essential for the young boy who suffers from the physically debilitating Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a neurological disorder that affects the sensory and motor nerves, which leads to muscle weakness and atrophy. The walker is blue with a black foldup seat, black and silver arms supports, and red knobs. It has the name "Luke" on the front bar.

Some people are so pitiful. How disgusting! By the description given I'm sure that it wasn't hard to tell that the walker belonged to a disabled child.
Karma is a b*tch!

Well, when the person who stole the walker is found, it is my sincere hope that the miscreant will need a walker of his/her own for many years to come.
Thanks.
Marion.

Couple of things:
Why would someone steal something like that?
Second, I'll add another theory which won't be very popular:
I've lost keys, cell phones, socks, etc., only to have them turn up weeks, months or years later.
Could this be the case?
I dunno. I feel for the youngster and his family but, ya know, that's why you pray to St. Anthony when things turn up missing.
(Nobody saw the theft, did they?)

Because of the size and shape, I don't think this was just misplaced!
hope this kid will be all right without his walker, I hope that loss doesn't make him feel insecure/afraid in his own environment. God bless this little life.
