We dont know what, where, or how....but something happened!

Can't imagine anyone who lives on the 2200 block of Harper wanting to vandalize anything....

"Chaparral area"? Is this a new neighborhood I haven't heard of, or just the tiny park on 27th street? There isn't even anything there to vandalize, other than a swing set and a free throw basket. That neighborhood is so depressingly ticky-tacky, they were probably trying to spruce it up.

Chapparall has been around for ages. It's the neighborhood off of 25th-28th & Haskell behind the Sonic on 23rd. My bro lives there. :)

Emily - High Chaparrall is the neighborhood marked by the streets Ponderosa, Maverick, etc. I've heard of it by that name since the mid-70s.

From the KC Star:

Three juveniles charged in Lawrence vandalism Lawrence police arrested three juveniles overnight after a rash of vandalism, and they're looking for two more suspects.

Each juvenile has been charged with 17 counts of criminal damage. Police are investigating at least 24 cases where car windows were damaged by someone firing a BB gun. At least one vehicle also was splattered with paint.

One victim saw the vandalism and followed the suspects' car to the 200 block of East 21st Street. Officers arrived and found the vehicle abandoned with a BB gun and other items inside. They later arrested three juveniles running in the 1900 block of Rhode Island Street

Mike - My friends and I continue to call it Cowboy Acres and there are a bunch of us! I think that the crime must've somehow involved the woman that was driving down the wrong side of the road on 19th Street Tuesday morning about 6:55am yesterday morning. Her windshield was entirely covered in frost and when she got even with us (I had to detour into someone's lawn) she was screaming like crazy!

emily, there are people who live in that neighborhood, including myself. don't make fun of it. cowboy acres is a cool name - never heard that before. Besides Ponderosa, and Maverick, there is Bonanza, Cimarron, Rawhide - Used to watch those shows on reruns as a kid

Why is it we have to read the Topeka Capital or Kansas City Star to see who was arrested or what happened here in Lawrence?

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't the Lawrence Urinal World get the same information as the other papers from the Law Enforcement Agencies here in Town?

These punks should be nailed for more than "simple vandalism". My husband was taking our trash to the curb on Monday night (in Prairie Park) and the little S**ts shot at him...not at the car...but at him. We called the police and gave them a detailed description of the vehicle. Within about 5 minutes there were several police cars flying around the area looking for them, but they got away before they found them that night. Then we hear on the Kansas City news tonight that they caught the group. You'd think the police might have informed us at some point.

Seriously...how long is it before they graduate from bb guns to 22's? "Kids" like this need some serious punishment. And, in my opinion, their parents need to be doing jail time, as well. What in the heck are kids doing driving around town at 3 am on weeknights??? "Back in my day"...we were in bed getting ready for school the next day. Man, times change.

Emily's neighborhood isn't much better. It's ok. I'd rather raise my kid in the Chaparral neighborhood than hers.

They "graduate" from BB guns to AK-47s. They think it's cool to be lil thugs, and most of them come from middle class families and have no clue about da streets.

Most of the single parents' kids I know are working so they have some spending money of their own. I'd look further west before placing blame on anyone.
