Woman leaves three dogs in hot vehicle

Law enforcement report¢ An animal cruelty incident reported by a 45-year-old Lawrence woman Friday will be reviewed by Lawrence Municipal Court to determine whether charges will be filed against the 51-year-old owner who left three dogs in her hot vehicle Friday.The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Checkers parking lot at 23rd and Louisiana streets. Three dogs were left in a sport utility vehicle with each of the four windows cracked about an inch. The car was not running and the temperature inside the vehicle was 102.9 degrees, according to the police report. The outside temperature was 89 degrees. No citation was issued.Burglaries and thefts reported¢ A 27-year-old Lawrence man reported the theft of more than $1,700 in property Sunday from his home in the 700 block of Michigan Street. A silver video iPod, compact discs, DVDs, video games, a Sega Genesis game system and a queen-size bed frame were all taken from the residence.¢ A 22-year-old Lawrence woman reported the theft of more than $1,100 in property Sunday from her home in the 2400 block of Alabama Street. A Polaroid DVD player, Hewlett Packard laptop computer and a Sony digital camera were among the items taken.¢ More than $10,000 in property was reported stolen Saturday by three 21-year-old Lawrence women in the 1100 block of Kentucky Street Saturday.
