Arrests made in convenience-store robbery
Lawrence Police arrested two men for an armed robbery of a convenience store on March 31.Geoffry S. Beers, 31, and Justin L. Nichols, 34, both of Lawrence, were charged Friday with aggravated robbery for brandishing a knife at a cashier at the Kwik Shop, 845 Miss. St., and demanding money from the cash register.They were booked into Douglas County jail on Thursday.Brenda Clary, Douglas County assistant district attorney, said in a hearing Friday that Beers had a prior felony drug conviction and Nichols had a prior robbery conviction and was on post-release supervision at the time of his arrest.Bond was set at $50,000 for Nichols; $30,000 for Beers.They face up to 20 years and seven months in prison if convicted.They’re both due back in court on April 17.Police have not said whether they suspect the two men were involved in other recent robberies at Dollar General, 1811 W.
