Must not have been trying too hard if he was 'dangling'.

what's with all these office supply assaults?

I guess there's a chance it was a weird accident, and the guy crashed and almost went over the edge.

Either that, or he's an idiot, because he a) failed to do it, and b) tried to do it by jumping off a bridge that's not very high.

You know, some people have second thoughts once they put themselves in a position where suicide is possible, why judge? just be glad he's saved.

The bridge may not be high, but that water behind the dam is very turbulent, and its certain to overtake anyone who may fall in it. Anyone remember that college kid that tried to swim across the river behind Johnny's a few years ago? They never found him.

Some pretty big cats in those waters too.

be grateful no one was in a boat under the bridge - they would have had to shoot the guy if he endangered anyone else!

billy bean bag: I'm with you on your comment. especially the point that the man was saved. Our Police in this town are not only here to enforce laws, but their main job is to protect people. Good Job, policeman/women and thank God another life was not lost!

CHICKEN-SCRATCHER!!!! I'm suicidal too! I probably would have taken my own life a long time ago if I wasn't so scared to do it! Are there any painless ways to do it? If so, let me know! Thanks! Dude

I forgot about the dam right under the bridge...I'm sure it would take an olympic swimmer to stay afloat in that environment!

My guess is it was a grab for attention. Bottom line - if people want to kill themselves, they will. Furthermore, people that want to kill themselves should. I have no sympathy for them - there are aspects of my "miserable life" that suck, too, but I'm strong enough to forge ahead and not needlessly burden the people that would be affected by my selfish death.

The unfortunate thing is the strain put on the men and women of law enforcement, who certainly have better things to do than keep these selfish persons around to live another day.

How insensitive some of you are. I guess you would bit.. if they actually succeeded. Most people who attempt suicide need help and understanding not to be put down and made fun of. What a bunch of jerks you all are. I guess everything is just so bright and cheerful in your lives all the time that you can put others down. God must be so proud of he made you all so perfect and great.

adky, what trailer park do you live in?

What's the "north side" of the bridge? The bridge runs north to south...he had to be dangling off either the east or west side, right?

Seems like some more details might be in order. I've ridden my bike on the bridge every day waiting for my tire to blow or someone to catch my handlebar and flip me into the very insufficient railing. IMHO The bars are large and good for keeping cars on the bridge but there's a concrete barrier for that. What about pedestrians.

They really ought to update the bridge railing with something with smaller gaps. If a kid tripped they could very easily go over into the river. Don't ever drop anything on the walkway ;)

It's too bad the tape dispenser guy wasn't there. The cop could have taped the jumper to the bridge and continued about his business.

Police foil suicide attempt

I heard that if you pull a gun out and point it at the police that they will shoot you.....is that true? I think that would foil a situation wouldnt it.

isnt foil something that you put on food when it becomes leftovers. I wont elaborate.
