Another liquor store hit by burglar

Someone broke the glass of a liquor store this morning in northern Lawrence in what police are classifying as an attempted burglary, the latest in a series of similar crimes around the city. The damage to Topless Liquor, 1805 W. Second St., happened around 3:15 a.m., according to a report, and caused $800 damage total to safety glass and a window.It’s at least the eighth burglary or attempted burglary at a local liquor store since Aug. 20, and it’s the second time that Topless Liquor has been targeted in that time.Other recent cases:¢ Aug. 20 – Someone broke into Harper Corner Liquor Store, 2220 Harper St., around 5:20 a.m. and stole five bottles of E & J Brandy.¢ Sept. 10 – Two incidents are reported: an attempted burglary about 4:10 a.m. at Glass House Liquor, 2301 Wakarusa Drive, and a burglary about 5 a.m. at Topless Liquor, 1805 W. Second St.¢ Sept. 29 – A forced-entry burglary is reported at Ray’s Liquor Warehouse, 1215 W. Sixth St.¢ Sept. 30 – A forced-entry burglary occurs about 5:25 a.m. at Myers Retail Liquor, 902 W. 23rd St.¢ Oct. 20 – Someone uses a concrete rabbit to smash a window at Neighborhood Liquors, 1906 Mass., and makes off with roughly $180 worth of liquor.¢ Oct. 23 – Police respond to an alarm around 1:30 a.m. at University Liquor, 3300 Bob Billings Parkway, and find a front window broken out.
