Conservative - You are quick. I thought the cougar attached the driver, ate him, and then pushed the car into the river because he had too many pina coladas.

"The car had been stolen and recovered on two other occasions"
Did they leave the screwdriver in the ignition? Repair the damage from the prior thefts and the car may stop being victimized in this way.
It doesn't matter now. After swimming with the fishes, it's done.

You would think that no one would want to steal a Chevy Cavalier - CERTAINLY not three times. Perhaps there is more to this story. An LJ-W investigation is needed here.

I bet you money even after the first theft that the owner of this car continued to leave it unlocked. Or the owner was the actual driver and lied about it being stolen instead of facing a possible drunk driving accident. Just a thought.

Responded to the river huh. Well I hope the river is ok.

stolen three times... bumper sticker: "Take me, I'm yours?"
somethin' very fishy in Denmark there.
and, if the Mountain lion "attached" the driver, could be interesting.

Let's not point fingers too soon. My car was stolen and recovered 4 times in two months. When they finally caught the skalawag, they discovered that his girlfriend lived a few blocks away from me, and on all four occasions, he'd missed the last bus home. Since he'd already broken out the back window and punched the lock, it was just easier to keep stealing the same conveniently located car. (And after the 2nd theft it hardly seemed worth the trouble to fix the window and the lock.) Good times in Tampa.

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the VAN. It's our old buddy Matt, asleep on the can.
His children were nestled THREE TIME ZONES AWAY With Matt's ex-wife, in sunny L.A.
Then Matt awoke, with a chill and a shiver 'Cause he was livin' in a VAN, down by the RIVER.

No van down by the river?
This article would have been so much more interesting if it had been a van.
