A car reported stolen shortly after midnight this morning was found abandoned in the Kansas River about 8:45 a.m. at Riverfront Park.The car, a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier, was seen in the water by Lawrence Parks and Recreation workers about 70 feet from the east bank, a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said.Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical, the Douglas County underwater search and recovery team and Lawrence Police responded to the river. No one was thought to have been injured.The car was taken from in front of a residence in the 300 block of Minnesota. The car had been stolen and recovered on two other occasions, the sheriff’s office said.
