¢ Gang-related stabbing?: Police on Friday arrested a 20-year-old Lawrence man suspected of stabbing a 19-year-old man in the neck during a fight downtown that a police report said was related to a “juvenile gang.”The fight happened shortly after 11 p.m. in the 900 block of Massachusetts after a group of people standing on the side of the street exchanged words with people in a car that was stopped at a red light, according to a report. The victim left before police could contact him, and witnesses would not give police his name. Officers later identified him and learned his mother had taken him to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for treatment. Police arrested Adam C. Barry, 20, of Lawrence, for the alleged stabbing.A form on a police report indicated the fight was related to a “juvenile gang,” but LPD spokeswoman Kim Murphree said the narrative portion of the officer’s report didn’t provide more details about what that meant. She said it appeared the two groups knew each other and that the officer thought a gang “might be a contributing factor to the altercation.”¢ Gumby’s trashed: Someone caused more than $1,251 in damage early Saturday morning at Gumby’s pizza, 1445 W. 23rd St., by pouring food items onto the floor. The store’s supplies of sugar, flour, oil, pizza boxes, jalapeno peppers, and tomato paste all were listed as damaged. Police have identified a suspect who’s known to the store’s managers, but would not say what the relationship is.¢ Alleyway robbery: A 57-year-old Lawrence man told police an unidentified man pushed him to the ground about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in the alley behind the Salvation Army shelter, 946 N.H., took his wallet, went through his backpack and stole 10 bottles of his prescription blood-pressure medicine. The man told police his upper dentures were knocked out in the robbery and he couldn’t find them.¢ Improper contact: Police are investigating a report that a 35-year-old man touched a 12-year-old girl inappropriately, exposed himself to her and tried to get her to come into his house multiple times between March 20 and June 28 in northern Lawrence. The man lives with the mother of one of the girl’s friends. He has not been arrested. Injury accidents: ¢ A 46-year-old motorcyclist was taken to University of Kansas Hospital Sunday evening after his motorcycle left the road and he struck a sign on U.S. Highway 24-40 near Kansas Highway 32. The driver, Jeffrey Laird of Lenexa, was not wearing a helmet, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.¢ A 33-year-old Lawrence woman struck a pedestrian with her 1998 Dodge Durango at 11:46 a.m. Saturday at Sixth and Michigan Streets, according to a report. The driver, Rosana A. Hall, had been turning west onto Sixth Street from northbound Michigan Street. The pedestrian, Diana L. Plas, 28, was walking north across the crosswalk when she was struck. Plas was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, and Hall was cited for failing to yield.Contributed by Eric Weslander.
