Vehicles spray-painted over weekend

Sometime late Friday night or Saturday morning, someone wielding a can of spraypaint had a heyday, leaving several cars parked along the block with a new, unwanted paint job.According to Lawrence Police, someone delivering the Journal-World between the 1100 and 1300 blocks of E. 21st st. noticed several cars splotched with spray paint. When police arrived, they found five vehicles coated with paint parked along the south side of the street or in nearby driveways.A brown Honda parked on the 1200 block of E. 21st st. appeared to have gotten the worst of it, police said, with spraypaint found on the hood, drivers front and rear fenders, and both doors and windows on the left side of the car.Police wouldn’t release the color of the spray paint Monday – that was detail still part of evidence in the investigation, spokeswoman Kim Murphree said – and no arrests have been made in the criminal damage cases.
