Woman arrested for assault, DUI, leaving accident

News from today’s police briefing: ¢ Wreck leads to arrest:Lawrence Police arrested a 22-year-old Lawrence woman, Kelli Jean Shumaker, on Monday night for aggravated assault, DUI, and leaving the scene of an accident after she allegedly rear-ended a vehicle at 15th Street and Haskell Avenue and drove away from the scene. The driver of the rear-ended vehicle told police he followed the woman and that she pulled over to talk to him in the 800 block of Kentucky Street. He told police she offered him cash for repairs, but that when he refused the offer, she threatened to shoot him. Police stopped her car in the 3100 block of Mesa Way and arrested her. ¢ Aggravated robbery arrest: Marcus A. Singleton, 27, of Maple Grove, MN, was arrested and booked into jail Monday afternoon on a warrant alleging he robbed a 19-year-old Lawrence woman March 27 in the 1000 block of West 24th Street.¢Solicitors arrested: Kansas University Police arrested three people- an 18-year-old Oklahoma woman, a 22-year-old Montana woman, and a 23-year-old Ohio man – for soliciting without a license and trespassing on the KU campus. They were booked into jail Monday evening.¢Condition update: Jason Fenwick, 24, Emporia, the skateboarder injured after being hit by a car Aug. 22 near 19th Street and Learnard Avenue, was in good condition this morning at University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kan.-contributed by Eric Weslander.
