Woman arrested for ‘aiding a felon’

¢ Lawrence Police arrested a 45-year-old Lawrence woman Monday night for littering, aiding a felon, possession of stolen property, driving on a suspended license, and driving with an open alcohol container. According to a report, officers stopped Paula Annetta Hines about 10:30 p.m. near 21st Street and Ousdahl Road because she was driving a vehicle associated with a “known felon” who is wanted for questioning in a domestic-battery case. Officers allegedly saw her throw a can of beer from the vehicle into a bush and recovered items from her trunk that were believed to have been stolen from a local grocery store. The man officers were seeking had not been arrested as of this morning. ¢ 1100 section of North 1000 Road: More than $4,500 in property, including hand toools, a weight set, a television and speakers, were stolen from in a home burglary between July 10 and Aug. 1, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.¢ An 84-year-old man living in the 1600 block of Pennsylvania Street told police an unidentified woman may have stolen his wallet and $35 cash after coming to his home early Thursday morning, asking for a drink of water, using the restroom and using the telephone. The man told police the woman may have been a caretaker for his neighbor. Police are working with the neighbor’s health-care provider to try to identify the woman.
