Dog nabs drugs on the Turnpike

Notes from today’s police briefing:¢ Levi, one of Douglas County’s two drug-sniffing dogs, helped Kansas Highway Patrol troopers find “several plastic bags containing large amounts of green vegetation”- suspected marijuana – during a traffic stop around 3 a.m. on the Kansas Turnpike at milepost 202. A 27-year-old Texas man was arrested, but his name was not available this morning. The sheriff’s K-9 unit was called to the scene to assist the highway patrol.Burglaries and thefts:¢ 300 block of north 1700 Road, Lecompton: A burglar or burglars forced their way into a home between 7 a.m. and 11:12 a.m. Monday and stole a computer, stereo, jewelry, and other items valued at more than $3,000 total. ¢ 2700 block of Inverness Ct: A 40-year-old Lawrence man had his golf clubs valued at more than $1,50 stolen between Aug. 1 and Aug. 10.¢ 3700 block of Tacker Trail: a $6,000 power sprayer belonging to Fritzel construction is stolen between 6 p.m. Friday and noon Tuesday-contributed by [Eric Weslander.][1] [1]: www2.ljworld.com/staff/ericweslander
