Lawrence police investigating reports of thousands of dollars of theft from people with disabilities

Law enforcement report ¢ Lawrence police are investigating the theft of thousands of dollars from several people with disabilities, according to police spokeswoman Kim Murphree. A Cottonwood Inc. employee reported the theft of at least $9,735 from four people. According to police reports, the money was stolen from U.S. Bank, 2701 Iowa St.Police were unable to provide additional information.Burglaries and thefts reported ¢ A 21-year-old Lawrence man reported a $9,000 silver Ford Mustang coupe was stolen between Nov. 1 and Tuesday in the 200 block of Elm Street. ¢ A 36-year-old Lawrence man reported $2,060 worth of tools and two tool boxes were stolen between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning in the 4200 block of Goldfield Street.Injury Accidents ¢ A 30-year-old Lawrence man was transported to Overland Park Regional Hospital following a single-vehicle accident that occurred at 9:45 a.m. Friday in Johnson County. According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, Joseph S. Ward was driving a 2002 Jeep south on Interstate 435 and exiting onto Kansas Highway 10 westbound. He drove off the roadway and hit a rock embankment and rolled three times, according to the report. His condition was not available.

Residential burglary reported

Law enforcement reportBurglaries and thefts reported ¢ A 45-year-old Lincoln, Neb., man reported a Panasonic laptop computer and a leather CD case were stolen between Oct. 31 and Sunday in the 200 block of Earhart Circle. The estimated loss is $3,000. ¢ A 22-year-old Lawrence man reported the dashboard of a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was damaged and a Kenwood stereo player and subwoofer were stolen from the vehicle. The incident occurred between Oct. 31 and Sunday in the 100 block of Coventry Manor. The estimated loss is $1,050. ¢ A 36-year-old Lawrence man reported a gas powered concrete saw and blade were stolen Oct. 24 in the 800 block of Crawford Drive. The estimated loss is $1,280.

Condition of driver in Monday K-10 accident improves

Law enforcement reportCondition Reports ¢ The condition of Errin Lang, the driver of a vehicle involved in an accident that killed a Eudora woman Monday, has improved, according to her father, Ron Lang, of Lawrence. Thursday afternoon he said she was in a more stable condition at St. Luke's Hospital. A spokeswoman at the hospital could not provide any information about Lang's condition. On Wednesday, Ryan Martinez, Lang's passenger, was in good condition at Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. A hospital official couldn't confirm his condition Thursday.

Dodge Stratus reportedly damaged by a key

Motorbike valued at $2,000 reported stolen

Law enforcement report Burglaries and thefts reported ¢ A 22-year-old Lawrence man reported a 2002 Aprilia motorbike valued at $2,000 was stolen between Wednesday and Tuesday in the 1000 block of Alabama Street. ¢ A Salb Construction employee reported that drywall was criminally damaged Tuesday in the 3000 block of Harper Street. The damage estimate is $1,000. ¢ An 18-year-old Lawrence man reported an XBox 360 game console and games and a Samsung cell phone were stolen Sunday in the 1800 block of Miller Drive. The estimated loss is $1,200.Injury Accidents ¢ A 44-year-old Lawrence man was flown to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., via air ambulance after a single-car accident Thursday on Kansas Highway 10. According to Kari Wempe, Douglas County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman, about 5:10 p.m. a 1999 Toyota car was driving west on the highway near mile marker 8.5 just east of County Road 1057. David Teska drove off the north shoulder and attempted to correct, but overcorrected and drove into a ditch, hitting the driver's side of the car into a tree, Wempe said. The man had nonlife-threatening injuries, Wempe said.

2009 scooter reported stolen from Sub Sonic Scooters

Law enforcement report Burglaries and thefts reported ¢ An employee of Sub Sonic Scooters reported a 2009 Silver Kymco 'People 50' scooter valued at $2,100 was stolen between Sept. 27 and Wednesday from the business, 629 N. Second St. ¢ A 54-year-old Lawrence man reported the passenger mirror and front left quarter panel were damaged on a vehicle between May 20 and May 22 in the 1600 block of Edgehill Road. The damage estimate is $1,900. The type of vehicle was not given in the police report. ¢ An 18-year-old Lawrence woman reported the driver's side of a vehicle was damaged by a key between Tuesday and Wednesday in the 1800 block of Naismith Drive. The damage estimate is $1,500. The type of vehicle was not given in the police report. ¢ A 24-year-old Lawrence man reported an Alpine car stereo, Apple iPod and Garmin GPS Navigation unit were among items stolen from a vehicle Monday in the 900 block of Connecticut Street. The estimated loss is $1,280.

Thefts reported on Kansas University campus

Law enforcement report Burglaries and thefts reported ¢ A laptop computer valued at $1,219 was reported stolen from Learned Hall between April 30 and Aug. 20, according to a Kansas University Public Safety Office report. ¢ A Garmin Navigation System was one of several items reported stolen from a red Ford Escape in a parking lot outside Lewis Hall on the KU campus between Sunday and Monday. According to a KU Public Safety Office report, the estimated loss is $2,500.

Police continue to investigate report of pharmaceutical theft

Law enforcement report ¢Lawrence police are investigating the possible theft of about $3,500 in drugs that were stolen from Hy-Vee, 3504 Clinton Parkway. The assistant store manager reported the medication had been stolen between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, police spokeswoman Kim Murphree said. The description of the container and its contents matched the description of a container and some of the contents found by a police officer in the 2500 block of Scottsdale Street later that day, Murphree said, but no arrests have been made in the case. Burglaries and thefts reported ¢ A 45-year-old Eudora man reported $2,100 in criminal vehicle damage occurred Tuesday in the 1900 block of West 25th Street. The windshield, three windows and the steering column of a 1995 GMC truck were reported damaged. ¢ A U.S. Geological Survey employee reported the rear driver's side windows of two white Ford Econoline vans were damaged Sept. 16 at the research department, 4821 Quail Crest Place. The damage estimate is $1,000.

Law enforcement report Burglaries and thefts reported ¢ A 21-year-old Lawrence man reported a 1973 blue Chevrolet Nova was criminally damaged and two Rockford Fosgate Punch 150s amplifiers and four speakers were stolen between Monday and Tuesday in the 2401 block of West 25th Street. Estimated loss is $2,500. ¢ A 27-year-old Lawrence man reported a Memphis audio subwoofer, a JVC stereo amplifier and a Pioneer car stereo were stolen from a vehicle between Monday and Tuesday in the 1000 block of Delaware Street. The rear hatch of the vehicle and the center console were also reported damaged. Estimated loss is $1,410. ¢ A 25-year-old Lawrence man reported a gray Dell Notebook laptop valued at $1,100 was stolen Sunday in the 1300 block of West 24th Street. ¢ A 28-year-old Lawrence woman reported a Sony Bravia 42-inch HDTV and a Nintendo Wii were among items stolen Saturday in the 2900 block of Missouri Street.
