Penn coach says defense gives Quakers ‘fighter’s chance’ vs. Kansas

Wichita — With a defense that usually limits 3-pointers, Penn coach Steve Donahue believes his team can compete with top-seeded Kansas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday.

“We really guard. We guard the 3 really well. We’re a top-10 defensive rebounding team. We’re a top-20 points per possession, raw numbers. That gives us a fighter’s chance.”

Donahue believes the Quakers (24-8) are better than their No. 16 seed because they don’t have as many weaknesses as typical 16 seeds.
