Josh Jackson: Assertive offense helped KU cruise

Tulsa, Okla. — The Jayhawks looked like a team that hadn’t played in more than a week in the opening minutes of their NCAA Tournament opener against UC-Davis, but Josh Jackson said they knew they could recover quickly.

Once the freshman guard, senior Frank Mason III, senior center Landen Lucas and their teammates got comfortable, they took over and cruised to a 100-62 victory.

“I think getting it in the paint is one thing that we’ve talked about all year. It really collapses the defense because we’ve got such great finishers around the basket, like Frank and myself and Landen,” Jackson said. “And when guys have to collapse in we’ve got some great shooters on the outside, and we can just play from inside out.”
