A toe-tapping good time with Drakkar Sauna

On Sunday, local darlings Drakkar Sauna played under an open sky of migrating birds and floating cotton, serenading a crowd with tales of being raised by astronauts.

After what seemed like an entirely all too busy week, I was ready to round out the weekend with a good old local show. Lucky for me, The Replay was hosting an outdoor all-ages patio show. To me, all ages means lots of dancing children at the show. Some people might be annoyed by children running about, I’m not. They provide half the entertainment. And the ones at this show were just cute as all get out.

I plopped myself down next to the grill (yes, they were grilling everything from hot dogs to veggie burgers at The Replay), cuddled up in a hoodie and enjoyed the show.

The weekend was actually stuffed with local music shows. Ranging from The Dead Girls show at the Jackpot to Fourth of July at the Jazzhaus, and even The Wise Acres at Crimson and Brews. With all that excitement, an early, outdoor patio show was a good way to relax at the end of it all.

This was one of those shows where I people-watched a lot. People giggled and elbowed each other when they heard certain quirky lyrics from the band. Anyone older than 50 tapped their toes and slapped their knees to the music. And some people danced with their kids. So it’s no wonder I was in such a good mood when I finally crawled into bed that night, reeking of bar-b-q and a toe-tapping good time.
