KU Crime Blotter: Week of Oct. 17 through Oct. 23

This week’s crime blotter is going up late. As I mentioned earlier this week in Heard on the Hill, incidents were temporarily unavailable on the reporting website. That was due to a technical problem, KU police Deputy Chief James Anguiano said, and it’s now been fixed.

The following incidents were reported to the University of Kansas Office of Public Safety between Monday, Oct. 17, and Sunday, Oct. 23. Incidents are listed by the dates they were reported.

Oct. 23

• Someone took a bicycle and bike lock between Oct. 16 and Oct. 23 at Templin Hall. Loss was valued at $715.

Oct. 22

• Police found a person in possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, paraphernalia and a fake driver’s license about 2:10 a.m. Oct. 22 at Oswald Hall. The person was arrested.

• Police found another person in possession of drug paraphernalia and a fake driver’s license about 2:40 a.m. Oct. 22 at Oswald Hall. The person was arrested.

• Someone was seen on camera punching a wall and causing damage about 9:50 p.m. Oct. 20 at Oswald Hall. Damage was estimated at $200. The suspect was arrested.

Oct. 20

• Theft of mislaid property occurred about 7:40 p.m. Oct. 14 on a bus, outside Snow Hall. Five 3-D imaging parts were left on the bus. Loss was valued at $300.

Oct. 19

• Someone kicked a hole in the wall of the south stairwell about 10 p.m. Oct. 16 at Oswald Hall. Damage was estimated at $200. The suspect was arrested.

Oct. 18

• Someone stole a camera case containing two cameras and three lenses Oct. 13 or Oct. 14 at Anschutz Library. Loss was valued at $1,253.

• Someone stole an iPhone 6 in a pink case Oct. 19 at the engineering complex. Loss was valued at $610.

• A bicycle seat went missing Oct. 15 or Oct. 16 at Self Hall. Loss was valued at $20.

• Someone keyed a vehicle, causing damage, Oct. 17 or Oct. 18 in Lot 104, 1700 block of Engel Road. Loss was valued at $500.

Oct. 17

• Someone left “two small crumbs of marijuana” in a shared bathroom about 6 p.m. Oct. 17 at Jayhawker Towers apartments.

• A bag of marijuana was found about 1 p.m. Oct. 17 in Lot 110, 1600 block of West 15th Street.

• Someone used a fake $20 bill to pay for items about 11:45 a.m. Oct. 17 at Wescoe Hall.

• Someone stole a vehicle Oct. 17 in Lot 90, 1800 block of Naismith Drive. Loss was valued at $2,500.

• Someone stole the stereo face plate from a vehicle Oct. 13 or Oct. 14 in Lot 52, 1100 block of West Campus Road. Loss was valued at $80.

• Someone damaged an antenna on a vehicle Oct. 16 in Lot 109, 1600 block of West 15th Street. Loss was valued at $400.

Oct. 16 (Oct. 16 incidents were unavailable at the time last week’s blotter was published)

• Police stopped a person driving with no headlights and found the person to be intoxicated and in possession of a fake driver’s license about 2 a.m. Oct. 16 on Sunnyside Avenue. The person was arrested.

• Someone stole a vehicle, which may have been left unlocked with the keys inside, Oct. 16 in Lot 53, 1100 block of Mississippi Street. Loss was valued at $21,276.
