KU Crime Blotter: Week of Oct. 10 through Oct. 16

The following incidents were reported to the University of Kansas Office of Public Safety between Monday, Oct. 10, and Sunday, Oct. 16. Incidents are listed by the dates they were reported.

Oct. 14

• Someone took another person’s phone and damaged it between 1 and 2 a.m. Oct. 14 at the Jayhawk Cafe (aka The Hawk), in the 1300 block of Ohio Street. Damage was estimated at $300.

• Someone took a plaque from a wall in the basement of JRP Hall between Oct. 4 and Oct. 6. Loss was valued at $100.

• Someone stole $70 from a mailbox Oct. 9 or Oct. 10 at Rieger Scholarship Hall.

Oct. 13

• Police found a minor in possession of alcohol, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a fake driver’s license about 2:30 p.m. Oct. 13 in Lot 105, 1800 block Engel Road. The person was arrested.

• Someone stole a bicycle from the rack between Oct. 7 and Oct. 13 at Jayhawker Towers, Tower B. Loss was valued at $400.

• Someone took a chair from the lobby about 4:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at JRP Hall. Loss was valued at $200.

Oct. 12

• Someone stole an iPad Air Oct. 11 or Oct. 12 at Summerfield Hall. Loss was valued at $650.

• Someone stole debit and credit cards from another person’s wallet Oct. 11 at Summerfield Hall. Loss was valued at $1.

• Someone stole a bicycle and cable lock from a bike rack Oct. 12 at the engineering complex. Loss was valued at $710.

Oct. 11

• Someone stole $40 from a resident’s mailbox between Sept. 23 and Sept. 25 at Miller Scholarship Hall. Loss was valued at $40.

Oct. 10

• Someone broke a latch on a vending machine and removed miscellaneous snacks about 4:15 a.m. Oct. 10 in Marvin Hall. Loss was valued at $56.25.

• During a consented search of a dorm room, police found the resident in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia about 7:45 p.m. Oct. 10 at Ellsworth Hall. The person was arrested.
