KU alerts students to phone scam

Telephone calls pretending to be from Kansas University’s Comptroller’s Office asking students to dial a 1-800 number and update banking information are fake. The university would never contact students in that manner, according to information from Jill Jess, a university spokeswoman.Students are asked not to return the phone calls and to verify with the appropriate KU office anytime a request is made to phone or e-mail information.Additional information on the same type of scam is available at the university’s Be SeKUre blog.
