A Kansas University associate professor of nursing is scheduled to be interviewed during tonight’s broadcast of the CBS Evening News.Kristine Williams is scheduled to discuss her research on “elderspeak” – a phenomenon by which those caring for patients with Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia speak in an overly caring, infantile way – similar to baby talk – to the patients.Williams’ research indicated that patients were more likely to resist care when spoken to in a degrading manner.More information about the research can be found at the School of Nursing’s Web site.
