Interim Fine Arts dean named; other administrative changes made at KU

John Gronbeck-Tedesco, a professor in Kansas University’s department of theater and film, will become interim dean of fine arts starting July 1. The position is open because current dean Steve Hedden announced he would be returning to teaching.A national search recently was suspended after it failed to produce candidates that were both interested in KU and whom KU leaders thought would work well at KU. The search is expected to resume, though a new timeline was not available Wednesday morning.In addition to an interim dean of fine arts, KU announced Danny Anderson would become vice provost for administrative affairs. Anderson, associate dean for interdisciplinary programs in KU’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, will replace Kathleen McCluskey-Fawcett. McCluskey-Fawcett announced earlier this year that she would return to teaching.Don Steeples, vice provost for scholarly support, was promoted to senior vice provost. McCluskey-Fawcett was senior vice provost until she announced her return to teaching.Tracy Horstman also was named the new director of space management, which determines how classes are assigned to buildings and rooms on campus.
