KU Libraries set to sell sci-fi books

Science fiction bibliophiles, rejoice.According to a press release from Kansas University Libraries, it will be hosting a science fiction book sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 12 on the third floor of Watson Library. The sale will include about 6,000 books acquired by the collection effort of KU Emeritus Professor James Gunn, duplicates and books that don’t meet the collection guidelines.Hardcover books are slated to be sold at $3 each, while paperbacks are marked at $1. It is open the public and Master Card or Visa will be accepted.Proceeds from the sale will support the science fiction collection at KU libraries. Unsold books will be donated to a non-profit organization dedicated to literacy programs.Librarian Lea Currie told me Tuesday the sale is in conjuncture with a conference Gunn takes part in, so she was hoping some members of the conference would attend the sale.Currie can be reached at (785) 864-8997._Mark Vierthaler_
