It’s not just Jayhawk fans, apparently, who love Big Jay.The esteemed Kansas University mascot was tapped to participate in an upcoming national cheerleading competition in Orlando, Fla.Kelsey McMahon, a senior and a spirit squad member, said the squad had to put together a video submission to the Universal Cheerleaders Association for consideration to participate in the program.”Every single year, we put hours and hours and lots of sleepless nights into this video,” she said.Here’s the result of that labor, enough to earn an invite to nationals, where Big Jay will compete against the likes of the University of Wisconsin’s “Bucky Badger” and the University of Tennessee’s “Smoky.”
