Protesting the Olympics

Topeka-based Bias Busters of Kansas and Missouri will be protesting the start of this year’s summer Olympics Thursday evening in Overland Park. The group will stage a protest/candle light vigil at 7 p.m. Thursday in front of Kansas University’s Confucius Institute at the Edwards Campus in Johnson County, according to a press release.E.C. “Sonny” Scroggins of Bias Busters said they planned to sync the protest with the opening Olympic ceremonies in Beijing. The reason behind the protest, Scroggins said, was because China was “the largest supporter ” of the Sudanese genocide. The press release also encouraged American residents to boycott the Olympics this summer and asked Kansas leaders to take a stronger stance against China’s human rights record. The public can attend the demonstration. For more information, write to [biasbustersofkansas@yahoo.com][1] or call (785) 232-3761.
