FDIC chairman to speak at KU

The chairwoman of the [Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation][1] will be in Lawrence Sept. 17 to speak with Kansas University students and members of the Lawrence banking community.

[Sheila Bair][2], a KU alumn, was sworn in as chairwoman in June of 2006. She plans to speak on topics ranging from the problems in the sub-prime mortgage industry, payday loans and the lack of financial literacy among Americans, according to Toni Dixon, [KU School of Business][3] spokeswoman.Blair is coming to campus to speak as part of the Anderson Chandler Lecture Series. The lecture series was responsible for bringing Alan Mulally, CEO of Ford Motor Company and a KU alumnus, back to campus last spring.Blair's lecture is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the [Lied Center][4]. Tickets are not required and the speech is open to the public.
