KU to celebrate Constitution Day
Two readings of the preamble to the United State constitution, a naturalization of new U.S. citizens and a panel on the U.S. Supreme Court under John Roberts will highlight Kansas University’s celebration of Constitution Day.Before the KU football team takes on Toledo Saturday, Chancellor Robert Hemenway will lead the crowd in reciting the Preamble to the Constitution. KU student government leaders will also recite the preamble on Monday, the actual Constitution Day.In addition, the Dole Insitute of Politics will sponsor two programs this week. The institute will host an INS naturalization program Monday for 100 people who have newly earned the right to become American citizens. The naturalization program is by invitation only, but the Journal-World will have coverage. Then, on Tuesday, a panel of experts will assess the current Supreme Court, under Chief Justice John Roberts.That event will be at 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
