KU: Original location of World Trade Center beams is determined

An engineer from New York’s World Trade Center has indentified the original home of the two steel support beams that are now on display at Kansas University’s Dole Institute of Politics. The two steel beams, pulled from the wreckage, originally held up floors 58 through 61 of 1 World Trade Center, the engineer determined. The beams were given to former Sen. Bob Dole, the building’s namesake, by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. They were a gift for Dole’s work in fundraising for the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund.Engineer John Barson determined the location of the beams by reading certain marks off of the beams.
