KUMC picks up $11 million NIH award

The [National Institutes of Health][1] today announced that [Kansas University Medical Center][2] would receive an $11 million grant to fund research on the regulation of cell development and differentiation.The award is being given to [Dale R. Abrahamson][3], an internationally known kidney researcher. Abrahamson will be the principal investigator. The funding will last for five years.In announcing the award, NIH said it was targeting funds to states that have historically received a low share of the NIH dollars. Other winners include the [University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center][4] and [Rhode Island Hospital][5].For more on this story, see Tuesday's Journal-World.
