Interim head of Spencer Library is named

Kansas University Libraries Dean Lorraine Haricombe has announced that Sherry Williams will become the interim head of the Kenneth Spencer Research Library later this year.Williams is currently curator of the Spencer’s Kansas Collection. She will become the interim head of the Spencer on July 1, as William Crowe, current Spencer librarian, will retain his role until he enters phased retirement in October.Crowe has been head of the research library for eight years, and in the fall he will begin working part-time as a special assistant to Haricombe.Crowe has previously served as KU libraries dean and vice chancellor for information services. The Spencer Research Library, 1450 Poplar Lane, just north of Strong Hall, includes a collection of more than 350,000 rare books, roughly 500,000 manuscripts as well as more than 2.5 million photographs.
