The undergrads don't need him as much as the grad students do. Congratulations to the University of Kansas, and to Prof. Barnett who directed my Ph.D. dissertation.
So I know him very well. I decided to finish my Ph.D. at KU because of him. I graduated last summer.
Grad students who work with him know how valuable he is. On top of his intellectual qualities, he is a terrific human being.
GO KU!

Great book by two great figures in economics (Barnett & Samuelson)
We should be proud of having One of the world's leading researchers and distinguished professors such as Dr. Barnett in our school.
As a KU economics-graduate students(Ph.D.), I am very pleased to be one of his students, but undergraduate students may not know him unless they know some advanced theories and economic issues such as:
chaos, aggregation theroy, divisia monetary aggregates, nonlinearity and others since He is one of the pioneers in these studies.
But Jawhawks would certainly remember him when he win the Nobel Prize
( expect it to be soon )

I will not attempt to underline the contribution of Prof. Barnett to the University of Kansas, neither would I discuss his interaction with particular groups of students. I should mention that the diplomas obtained from the Department of Economics of the University of Kansas are honored proportionally with the contribution of all faculty, all staffmembers, and all graduate students.
I believe W. A. Barnett is vital to graduate students, and to the Department of Economics in its present state. I agree with the comment that he attracts higher credential faculty to the Department, among other benefits he has brought to the Department.
He is the reason why I returned back to the Department to finish my PhD.

"Inside the Economist's Mind,"
A review of this book appeared on the British blog, New Economist, in London.
The first line of the review says ------ "Published earlier this week, Inside the Economist's Mind: Conversations with Eminent Economists, has all the hallmarks of an economic bestseller."
What most distinguishes this book is its "no holds barred" revelations and astonishing statements by many of the world's most famous "celebrity" economists, including eight Nobel Laureates, a former Federal Reserve Board chairman, the current Governor of the Bank of Israel, a former chair of the Council of Economic Advisers, along with other economists of similar importance.
This book is filled with inside information from those who know the truth, but had not previously revealed it.
