Three KU profs get Fulbrights

Kansas University professors Gregory Cushman, Erik Herron and Mahasweta Banerjee were given Fulbright Senior Scholar Awards for the 2007-2008 school year, KU announced today. The professors will teach or research in a variety of foreign locales, including Hungary, Ukraine and India. More than 280 KU educators have received Fulbrights since their inception in 1951.Cushman, an assistant professor of history, will teach during the fall at University of Pannonia in Hungary.Herron, director of the center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies at KU, has received Fulbrights for the past three years, and will spend this fall at Ivan Franko National University in L’viv, where he will observe and research the Ukrainian elections and also teach.Banerjee, associate professor of social welfare, will research in India the ability of residents of West Bengal to earn a living.
