WSU’s success talk of Regents’ meeting

_Jonathan Kealing is covering the Regents meeting in Hesston._HESSTON — Someone at Wichita State University knows a thing or two about PR.The front page of today’s Wichita Eagle, features a huge package on the success of a new scholarship program that targeted 40 of the top Wichita high school students, and tried to convince them to stay in town and enroll at Wichita State. Thirty of the 40 students did choose Wichita State, and that success is the talk of this morning’s Kansas Board of Regents Retreat.Several regents discussed the program over breakfast, as Hesston is just a stone’s throw from Wichita, and the discussion continued as the retreat began at the Dyck Arboretum of the Plains. The success raises the question of whether KU and other Regents universities could replicate those efforts.
