Lawrence students qualify for state forensics tournament

Two members of the Free State High School forensics squad qualified to go to the state tournament in May after competing this weekend at a tournament hosted by Olathe South.
Free State's Logan Brown, a junior, qualified by placing third in domestic extemporaneous speaking, and Kerrie Leinmiller-Renick, a senior, qualified by placing fourth in poetry.
Meanwhile, Lawrence High School junior Vinnie Barker qualified for the state tournament by placing first in domestic extemporaneous speaking at a separate tournament at De Soto.
Lawrence High also competed this weekend at a tournament in Junction City.

• Solomon Cottrell, junior, fourth place, foreign extemporaneous speaking.

• Kaitlyn Preut, freshman, third place, foreign extemporaneous speaking.

• Bradlea Padgett, freshman, sixth place, domestic extemporaneous speaking.
