The Kansas State Board of Education held a reception this morning for four departing board members.
Chairman David Dennis, a Wichita Republican, and Cathy Martin, Clay Center Republican, did not run for re-election this year. Democrat Sue Storm of Johnson County could not run again for her seat due to redistricting. And Walt Chappell, Wichita Republican, was defeated in the August primaries.
They will be replaced in January with four newly elected board members.
• Jim McNiece (R) replaces Dennis.
• Kathy Busch (R) replaces Chappell.
• Deeena Horst (R) replaces Martin.
• Steve Roberts (R) replaces Storm.
