Byers seeking re-election to school board

Bob Byers filed paperwork Tuesday to run for another term on the Lawrence school board.

“I feel that there continues to be issue in the district that my experience will be helpful on,” Byers said in an email to the Journal-World.

Byers’ seat is one of three on the school board that will be up for election in April. The others are held by Board Chairwoman Vanessa Sanburn and Mark Bradford.

Sanburn, who is expecting a new baby in the next few weeks, said recently she hasn’t yet decided whether to run again. Bradford indicated he is not likely to run.

“At this point, I am not entertaining the idea,” Bradford said in an email.

Candidates have until noon on Jan. 23 to file for city and school board races. The primary election is Tuesday, Feb. 26. The general election will be Tuesday, April 2.
