Resident arrested following alleged run-in with bicyclist in North Lawrence
Police arrested a man after an incident in which someone allegedly tried to run a bicyclist off the road with a car Monday night in North Lawrence.
Just after 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a fight in the area of Eighth and Walnut streets, Lawrence police Sgt. Amy Rhoads said in an email. A vehicle allegedly attempted to run a bicyclist off the roadway, Rhoads said. The bicyclist was not struck, though a physical altercation reportedly occurred afterward. No injuries were reported.
Police made an arrest and forwarded the case to the district attorney’s office, Rhoads said.
A 74-year-old man, whose listed address is in the area, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the corresponding jail booking log. As of Monday morning, he was not charged in court.
