Man reported walking Lawrence streets with a rifle and alcohol

Around 4:50 p.m. Thursday officers were dispatched to the intersection of West 14th and Ohio streets for a report of a man walking around the area with alcohol in one hand and what appeared to be a rifle in the other, said Lawrence Police Sgt. Amy Rhoads.

According to Lawrence Police Department activity logs, 11 officers responded to the scene.

Rhoads said police searched the area but could not find the man in question.

Officers then headed over to West 14th and Tennessee streets for a separate disturbance report, Rhoads said. There they met one subject, who was unarmed and determined to have played no part in the initial report.

The man in question was never found, Rhoads said.
