Disgraced Houston hoops player got what he deserved

Apparently, Houston guard Aubrey Coleman thought stomping on the face of Arizona’s Chase Budinger was funny. I wasn’t laughing after I saw the replay. In case you missed it on Saturday night, Coleman was ejected from the game in Tucson, Ariz., for stomping on Budinger’s face after being called for a charge. Here’s the footage:The worst part of that video, to me at least, took place at the 32-second mark, when Coleman’s teammates congratulated him with high fives and laughter on his way to the exits.Message to Coleman: That wasn’t funny. You shouldn’t be laughing after disgracing the game of basketball. You know what is funny, though? Houston led this game by 10 points with 52 seconds left and couldn’t close it out. Arizona’s Nic Wise hit a three-pointer with 10 seconds left to force overtime. Arizona went on to win, 96-90. Wise, coincidentally, is a Houston native. That’s what I like to call Karma. Coleman deserved to be ejected. And Houston fittingly lost the game.I’ll continue this blog entry with the first Sorrentino Scale of the hoops season. Still two undefeated teams in Big 12 Conference play. And wouldn’t you know it? The defending national champs are one of them.

  • 1. Oklahoma (19-1, 5-0): Destruction of talented Baylor team makes Sooners a scary bunch.
  • 2. Kansas (15-4, 4-0): Jayhawks, winners of four straight and seven of eight, are playing their best ball of the season.
  • 3. Texas (14-4, 3-1): Can Damion James be as consistent as he was against A&M (28 points, seven boards) for the majority of the year?
  • 4. Missouri (17-3, 4-1): Only North Carolina has beaten teams by more than Missouri (20.2) has this season.
  • 5. Baylor (15-4, 3-2): Too many ill-advised outside shots against OU.
  • 6. Oklahoma State (13-5, 2-2): Cowboys have four guys that consistently shoot the three-ball at over 40 percent for the season.
  • 7. Nebraska (12-6, 2-3): Defense is there, offense isn’t.
  • 8. Texas A&M (15-5, 1-4): Victims of a brutal schedule, and minimal offensive production.
  • 9. Iowa State (12-7, 1-3): Can you imagine if Craig Brackins had anyone around him who could score?
  • 10. Texas Tech (11-8, 1-3): Have lost four of five.
  • 11. Kansas State (12-7, 1-4): Have also lost four of five.
  • 12. Colorado (8-10, 0-4): Have lost seven of eight.

That’s all for now, friends. As always, discuss.
