Gov. Sam Brownback announced Tuesday he has formed the Kansas Humanitarian Commission, which will recognize Kansans and Kansas groups for their global and local charitable efforts.
Brownback has asked Lt. Gov. Jeff Colyer and Ashleigh Black to co-chair the commission.
Colyer, a physician, has volunteered for more than 20 years through the International Medical Corps to bring medical care in war-torn areas. Black is associate director of the George Washington Center for Global Health in Washington, D.C.
Colyer and Black will name the remaining members of the commission, which will set up an annual Kansas Governor's Humanitarian of the Year award.

ox·y·mo·ron
/ˌäksəˈmôrˌän/ Noun A figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction (e.g., faith unfaithful kept him falsely true).
Here are some common examples of oxymoronic expressions: Brownback Humanitarian Commission, act naturally, random order, original copy, conspicuous absence, found missing, alone together, criminal justice, old news, peace force, even odds, awful good, student teacher, deafening silence, definite possibility, definite maybe, terribly pleased, ill health, turn up missing, jumbo shrimp, loose tights, small crowd, and clearly misunderstood.

How about Conservative Thinking ? I guess that a selfish, self centered, panicked, expression of...... Me, Me, Me, .....might be considered to be thinking,... by some ?

Let me see ? Hummmmmm ? How does, "SAM BROWNBACK,.....KANSAS HUMANITARIAN OF THE YEAR", sound ?! Maybe they will choose "THE KOCH BROTHERS" ......KANSAS HUMANITARIANS OF THE YEAR ?!

And this creates jobs how? Improves our schools how? Addresses drought conditions and climate crisis how? Sounds like a club for old white guys to pat themselves on the back for bein' such good good ole boys. Never mind them saying they won't be so charitable if their taxes go up a whopping 3 or 4%.

I'd almost dislike Brownback less if he would just drop the pretense already.
He says stuff about reducing child poverty, then takes swipes at short term fixes (srs) and long term solutions (education).

Couldn't agree more, you have proven yourself countless times over that you are a heartless piece of dung & a pitiful excuse of a human being. You pretend to be "Christian" on Sunday smiling in church & then the next day you literally take food out of babies mouths - Can someone show me in the bible where Jesus says to kick the poor in the head when they are down & out? Take food away form hungry kids? We all know the jerk that you are so why don't you just shut up with the "Im really a nice guy here trying to help our friends & neighbors" routine. The tickets to that show were thrown away & urinated on a long time ago "brother."

Everything will be fine once they partake of the pie in the sky.

What??!! This is simply more smoke and mirrors to turn attention away from what Brownback and his puppet legislators are doing to the needy in Kansas. I can just hear the p.r. flak in the meeting that decided this distraction strategy: "Guv, this'll look GREAT nationally!! NObody will look under the covers." Coming a day after we learned about TANF. . . . We've seen a lot of disgusting news out of Topeka in the past two weeks; this announcement wins, hands down.
