365 Days of Weather: April 16-18

April 16, 2010 started off with a few showers, but it didn’t take long for the rain to clear out. I ran out to the Doran Rock Gardens and Reinisch Rose Garden at Gage Park to see what was left of the Tulip Time Festival.

I have to admit, I was a little disappointed. I was aware the tulips wouldn’t be doing well because of the warm and breezy weather, but an orange construction fence around the exhibit really ruined the view.

The picture above shows a few raindrops left on the lily pads in the rose garden’s pond. You can also still see a few raindrops on the tulips. Again, don’t let these pictures deceive you, they are zoomed in to hide the orange construction fence.

The weather over the weekend was beautiful, especially on Saturday. Mostly sunny skies and middle 60s returned on April 17, 2010. I was in downtown Topeka, so I decided to check out the tulips along Kansas Avenue. Between the tulips and blooming trees, there was a lot of color along the road.

Since I have been to every Tulip Time Festival exhibit except the one at Lake Shawnee, I stopped by the Ted Ensley Gardens on April 18, 2010. More clouds moved in for Sunday, but that didn’t stop several people from enjoying the afternoon, in fact, it was very difficult to take a picture at Lake Shawnee without people in the shot!
