April 14, 2010 was yet another sunny and warm day. Meteorologist Ed Bloodsworth and I made a trip to Fort Riley to talk to 4th grade students at Ware Elementary about severe weather.

The trip along I-70 through the Flint Hills was beautiful. There aren’t many spots along I-70 where you can safely pull over and take a photograph, so we pulled off at the Maple Hill exit.

You can tell how sunny it was from the light reflecting off the water. You’ll notice from the pictures, not everything is green yet, although things are slowly changing.
