Former UCLA assistant Kaitlin Nielsen joins KU volleyball

Kaitlin Nielsen, former assistant volleyball coach at UCLA, has been named assistant coach at Kansas, KU volleyball head coach Ray Bechard announced Wednesday. Nielsen replaces Maggie Bowen, who returns to her role as director of operations after a one-year stint as assistant coach.

“We are extremely excited to announce the addition of Kaitlin to our staff,” head coach Ray Bechard said in a team release. “She has competed at the highest level and has a very clear understanding of the commitment necessary to be successful at this level. She is an outstanding communicator and will be an excellent role-model for our players, allowing her to make a significant impact not only in the gym but in all areas of their life.”

Nielsen spent the previous six seasons at UCLA and served in multiple roles for the Bruins, including volunteer coach (2013), assistant coach, assistant beach coach (2013-14) and recruiting coordinator.
