When will the Laidlaw Transit provide bus passes to families who paid in July and August? There are children riding buses who have not paid. Parents who paid on time are unhappy about this.

Bob Osborn, general manager of Laidlaw bus depot, said all students on the bus should have received a pass long ago. Those missing a pass should contact Laidlaw at 841-3594.

Bus drivers determined after the third week of school which students hadn't paid the required fee. Laidlaw contacted parents to request payment.

Not all students must pay. State law allows 1,077 Lawrence students living a considerable distance from school to ride free. The school board agreed 280 students in the federal free-lunch program are exempt.
