Who is the Tom Paine behind the "I want you to invade Iraq" ad in Tuesday's edition of the University Daily Kansan?

The ad was purchased by TomPaine.com, which on its Web site calls itself a "public interest journal" that "seeks to enrich the national debate on controversial public issues by featuring the ideas, opinions and analyses too often overlooked by the mainstream media."

It's named after Thomas Paine, the Revolutionary War figure who wrote "Common Sense" and "The Rights of Man."

Tuesday's ad in the Kansan features a drawing of Osama bin Laden pointing at the reader, emulating Uncle Sam. The ad said attacking Iraq could fuel hatred of the United States.
