How can the city of Lawrence receive a fair reading on the Carnegie building when it is performed by a city commission member?

City Manager Mike Wildgen said: "Consultants to the city are selected based on their responses to the city's request for proposals detailing the project and required qualifications. Seven architects submitted proposals for the project.

"GLPM Architects (which employs Commissioner David Dunfield) was chosen for its experience in facilities studies, its work on other Carnegie Library renovations around the state, and its knowledge of the Lawrence Carnegie building. GLPM has been working on the Lawrence Carnegie building since 1998, when it was home to the Lawrence Arts Center."
