During halftime at Saturday's Kansas-Oklahoma State game, a number of players, from both KU and Oklahoma State, actually practiced on the field while the band was giving its concert. Is this allowed?
Richard Konzem, associate athletic director at KU, said the field must be cleared for players to practice with four minutes remaining in halftime. When special events such as Saturday's HOPE awards happen before the band performance, the band can go over the allotted time for halftime events.
He said he'd noticed kickers often coming onto the field to practice before four minutes left in halftime. Most of the time, he said, that didn't pose a problem.
